Alternative Fuel Engineering: Part 1 The Intro

I plan to build a bicycle this school year in my Alternative Fuel class.  2013-2014  There are many steps in the process.  Step one I introduced my class to design and fabrication by fixing the school chairs/stools.  I felt this was a good starting point.  To expand on this story, I interviewed my student Jonathan on his blog.  Here is the link.

Mr.G's Alumni: Erick Rosenblatt's VW Repair

Here is another student portfolio.  Erick Rosenblatt is an Alumni of my class.  He did great work.  In this porfolio he used a combination of photos, drawings, call-outs, and writting, to take the reader through the repair.  This layout was inspired by the famous VW repair writer, John Muir.

Narrowing it down to "one" problem

The assignment was to narrow down a problem to just one solution.  And...  that solution must work even when you (the student) graduate.  Here is an example of one solution from Xavier.  Check out the link at the bottom.

Go-Kart throttle design

Hello teachers and students,

Last year in my public school class, we worked on a Go-Kart.  Not the whole Kart...  just the throttle. The assignment was to transfer a drivers foot motion pushing the "gas" pedal, to the turning motion on the throttle at the carburetor.  I did not design the solution for the students...
